In July 2020, the IRI Colombia program held a webinar to launch the Resource Guide on Rainforest Protection for Religious Communities which had high-level religious speakers and drew participation of more than 2,500 people. “This guide is very important because it provides multiple tools to put into practice the ethical imperative of caring for our common home and, in particular, the tropical forests,” said Juan Bello, head of the UN Environment Office in Colombia and moderator of the event. High-level speakers included Édgar Castaño, President of the Evangelical Confederation of Colombia (CEDECOL); Francisco Duque, bishop of the Anglican Church and president of the Interreligious Council of Colombia; Fany Kuiru, Indigenous Leader of the Uitoto people Jitomagaro Clan; Rodrigo Botero, Director of the Foundation for Conservation and Sustainable Development; and Luz Marina Mantilla, director of the Amazonian Institute for Scientific Research (SINCHI)
