IRI DRC prepares strategy to influence national policies on forests and land use

IRI DRC has convened a team of five experts in collaboration with religious denominations members of the IRI DRC Advisory Council to produce an advocacy document to protect the tropical forests of the country. The team is in the process of identifying sectors that contribute to the protection of forests and analyze the legal frameworks where IRI DRC can exert influence to address challenges like deforestation, land-use planning, and national governance of land and agriculture. The strategy will identify the laws, legislation and policies where the influence and advocacy of religious leaders (working together through IRI DRC) is needed most. The draft political advocacy strategy will be presented to the Advisory Council in their next June meeting.
