IRI Colombia, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI Colombia), held a public debate with the candidates for mayor of Puerto Asis. The debate served as a platform to discuss the candidates’ proposals on environmental issues, focusing on the protection of the Amazon forests, the fight against deforestation and the rights of the communities that inhabit them. At the end of the meeting, the four candidates for mayor of Puerto Asis signed the programmatic agreement “A New Opportunity of Hope for the Amazon”, committing to prioritize forest protection in their government programs. IRI Colombia and GGGI introduced the candidates to their work, and offered technical support and accompaniment during the construction of the municipal development plan.
