IRI Democratic Republic of Congo (IRI-DRC), together with representatives of the country’s environmental civil society, met with the Minister of State for Land Management to discuss the inclusive implementation of Law No. 25/045 of July 1, 2025, on land-use planning.
During the meeting, religious leaders and their partners presented a memorandum of recommendations calling for institutional representation of faith communities in consultative bodies and for the creation of awareness and communication tools adapted to local communities.
The Minister welcomed the initiative and confirmed that the draft decree establishing the National Land-Use Planning Council is currently under government review. He also acknowledged the strategic role of religious institutions in promoting sustainable, transparent, and participatory land governance across the country.
“The voice of faith communities can help guide land policy with wisdom, transparency, and respect for creation,” the Minister noted.
The IRI DRC delegation reaffirmed its commitment to support the government in implementing this historic reform and ensuring that environmental stewardship and community rights remain central to national planning.
