On August 3, 2025, IRI Indonesia and the Indonesian Confucian High Council (Majelis Tinggi Agama Khonghucu Indonesia – MATAKIN) held a hybrid Guidebook Launch and Capacity-Building Workshop attended by 60 Confucian leaders — evenly split between onsite and online participants — representing both national and regional branches.
The program introduced IRI Indonesia’s two guidebooks and explored how Confucian philosophy can advance rainforest protection through the principle of Tian Ren He Yi — harmony between Heaven, Earth, and humanity. Speakers linked classic teachings from Mengzi, Xunzi, and the Liji to modern ecological practices, encouraging temples to serve as eco-spiritual centers promoting waste reduction, tree planting, and environmental education.
Supported by AMAN, youth representatives, and academics, the workshop resulted in digital education initiatives, eco-temple prototypes, and new collaborations with local governments — reinforcing IRI’s role as a bridge between ancient wisdom and contemporary environmental action.
‘’Houses of worship are not only places of prayer, but also centers of education, advocacy, and concrete action for rainforest protection and ecological justice.”— Prof. Dr. Drs. Ws. Chandra Setiawan, M.M., Ph.D., Deputy Chair for Education & International Relations, MATAKIN
