New faith communities join IRI Peru’s local chapters in the Amazon

Expanding its territorial reach and interfaith network, IRI Peru welcomed new religious communities into its local chapters between September 9–11, strengthening regional action against deforestation, illegal mining, and forest fires.

In Pucallpa (Ucayali), a region severely affected by environmental crimes, leaders from the Church of God of Prophecy joined efforts to reactivate the local IRI group. The same denomination expanded participation in Tingo María, a city that bridges the Andes and the Amazon, committing new representatives to IRI’s work in environmental education and advocacy.

In Aucayacu (Huánuco), leaders from the Assemblies of God joined the initiative to help defend forests and promote sustainable land management. Meanwhile, in Huánuco City, the Bahá’í Faith officially became part of IRI’s local chapter, initiating a series of coordination meetings to strengthen ongoing efforts.

These new partnerships mark a significant step in IRI Peru’s mission to unite diverse faith traditions in protecting forests, promoting social justice, and empowering local communities to respond collectively to environmental degradation.
