IRI Peru facilitated an immersion in Iquitos with 25 leaders from faith communities, Indigenous Peoples and social organizations. The program combined site visits — including Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve, with learning from institutions such as the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute (IIAP) and the Amazon Rescue Center/CREA, plus dialogue with Indigenous leadership highlighting urgent calls to protect PIACI (Indigenous Peoples in voluntary isolation and initial contact). The immersion concluded with public-facing messaging denouncing destructive impacts of illegal mining and extractive pressures and urging defense of forests.
