IRI Peru ‘No Forests, No Life’ campaing launches across multiple Amazon front lines

IRI Peru launched “Sin bosques, no hay vida” (“No Forests, No Life”) in Iquitos as an interfaith and civic call to confront accelerating deforestation and illegal mining, with particular attention to impacts on river systems and forest-dependent communities. The campaign then expanded through high-visibility launches in San Martín (Tarapoto/Rioja) and Puerto Maldonado (Madre de Dios), pairing youth communications and public dialogues with local media amplification, and embedding the campaign in an illegal-mining epicenter through public events, panels, press engagement and youth content production. The campaign was also presented at the Water Summit in Iquitos to more than 300 delegates from Peru and neighboring countries, highlighting the forests–water connection and rallying faith and civil society around solutions prioritizing vulnerable communities.

Also, IRI Peru delivered a “No Forests, No Life” workshop for Methodist youth leaders from 11 regions linking Amazon realities, ethical voting criteria and mobile-first content creation to strengthen peer-to-peer civic engagement. Participants developed replicable formats (short videos, posts and explainers) as part of the Methodist Church’s Hispano-Peru Leadership Academy.
