The Listen to the Amazon alliance prepared the document “Coordinates to avoid the point of no return in the Colombian Amazon and understand the challenges and opportunities for the 2026-2030 government period” and the concept note of the “2026 Presidential Elections, the challenges and opportunities for the Colombian Amazon in the next National Government”, necessary inputs for the advocacy process that will be carried out within the framework of the presidential election day and that will begin a Once the presidential candidates who will participate in the May 31 elections (first round) are defined.
The first will serve as a compass to guide conversations, debates and public discussions in the framework of the elections, with the aim that the candidates aspiring to the presidency of the republic include in their government proposals, initiatives that consolidate a comprehensive and long-term commitment, “to avoid the point of no return and guarantee the well-being of its inhabitants.”
The second defines the content of the workshop, which will offer journalists a broad vision of the electoral context in the Amazon and will address the presidential proposals on environmental, human rights and territorial planning in the region, which can be integrated into the journalistic coverage of the electoral process for the protection of the region.
