IRI Peru participated in an event convened by INTI RUNAKUNAQ WASIN, an allied organization and member of the IRI Quillabamba chapter, to present a legislative proposal for protecting water sources in La Convención and Lares in Cusco. The event brought together Congresswoman Ruth Luque, religious actors, Indigenous organizations, government representatives and civil society groups. Participants proposed expanding the initiative to protect water sources across the department of Cusco and recognize the forests that sustain them, particularly in the valleys of La Convención. By lending faith-based support to a concrete water-protection proposal, IRI Peru is helping link forests, watersheds and public responsibility in one of the country’s most important Amazon-Andean territories.
