IRI DRC held its first Advisory Council meeting of 2026 in Kinshasa and formally welcomed two new members: the National Network of Independent Natural Resource Observers and the Regional Postgraduate School for Integrated Forest and Tropical Land Management. Their inclusion strengthens the Council’s expertise in independent monitoring, transparency, natural resource governance, research, training and public policy. Members also approved the 2026 work plan and budget, including priorities to contribute to the revision of the 2002 Forest Code, form a technical expert team, prepare inputs for public authorities and launch the national “No Forests, No Future” campaign with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. By strengthening its advisory structure, IRI DRC is building the technical and institutional base needed to influence forest governance at national scale.
