On July 22, 2025, IRI Indonesia and the Environmental Council of Muhammadiyah (Majelis Lingkungan Hidup – MLH) co-organized a hybrid Guidebook Launch and Workshop on Faith Teachings and Houses of Worship for Rainforest Protection, engaging 100 Islamic leaders — 40 onsite at the Muhammadiyah Central Board Office in Jakarta and 60 online.
The event introduced IRI’s two flagship resources — the Guidebook on Faith Teachings for Rainforest Protection and The Role of Houses of Worship — while encouraging the integration of ecological values into Islamic education, sermons, and community programs. Experts in environmental fiqh, green economics, and forestry discussed concepts such as forest waqf, sustainable zakat, and the role of mosques as eco-hubs.
Breakout discussions produced concrete proposals for curriculum development, youth mobilization, and the creation of Green Mosque models, reaffirming Muhammadiyah’s commitment to align Islamic ethics with scientific knowledge and to position faith communities at the forefront of environmental stewardship.
