IRI at the Kofi Annan Faith Briefings

In July 2019, several representatives of the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative participated in the Kofi Annan Faith Briefings, convened during the UN High Level Political Forum and organized by the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion. The Interfaith Rainforest Initiative was profiled in the session “The Role of Multi-Faith Partnerships to Combat Climate Change and its Impacts” and was featured a flagship program of interfaith collaboration to confront the climate crisis. Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Forum on Religion and Ecology at Yale, outlined the mission, vision and ongoing work of the initiative and joined other members of the partnership in the session, including Audrey Kitagawa, Chair of the Parliament of World’s Religions, and Gopal Patel, GreenFaith. The session was moderated by Dr. Charles McNeill, Senior Advisor, Forests and Climate, UN Environment Programme.
