In June, IRI Peru convened a specialized course on Faiths and Forests entitled: “Unidos por la Amazonía: Somos Bosque” for members of the IRI Bellavista chapter. The course is aimed at leaders of faith communities, pastoral agents, educators and teachers. A total of 16 leaders participated in five sessions on the science of forests and climate, the ethical and spiritual basis for acting to stop deforestation, and the development of advocacy strategies. During the closing session, participants presented a political advocacy plan they will implement at the local level.
