IRI Peru helped coordinate and circulate a series of three videos with prominent religious leaders on forests and climate in advance of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP27). Cardinal Pedro Barreto, archbishop of Huancayo and president of REPAM and CEAMA, shared a video message about the role of authorities in making decisions about forests and climate to secure a global future. Rabbi Simantob Nigri, a member of the IRI Peru Advisory Council, also participated, highlighting the role of faith communities in God’s call to defend land, forests and water. The third video featured Sister Maria Inés, Executive Secretary of the Conference of Religious Men and Women of Peru, who highlighted in her message the urgency of stopping climate change and reaching agreements that are implemented.
