IRI Peru advocates in Congress for archiving of dangerous Bill that threatens natural reserves with indigenous populations in isolation

IRI Peru participated in an advocacy campaign to prevent passage of a bill in Congress (Bill 3518) that has been widely condemned by civil society and indigenous peoples’ organizations for weakening the protection of indigenous populations in voluntary isolation and initial contact (PIACI) in Peru. IRI Peru issued a denouncement of the bill through its social media networks and beyond. Working in coordination with other forest and indigenous peoples’ partners, IRI Peru succeeded in getting the commission reviewing the bill to refrain from commenting and putting it forward.
