IRI Indonesia delivers webinar, “Rainforest Guardians”

IRI Indonesia led a webinar on February 28th titled “Rainforest Guardians” that facilitated collaboration between religious leaders, environmental activists, and academics to safeguard tropical forests in North Maluku. The lead speakers were Adam Basirun and Aceh by Dr. Delfi Suganda, both prominent figures in their respective fields of religion, activism, and academia.

Throughout the event, the speakers highlighted the vital roles of religious leaders, civil society, academics, and indigenous peoples in tropical forest protection, yielding insights into sustainability strategies and increased awareness. The webinar is the first in a series coordinated in collaboration with the Indigenous Peoples’ Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN) on “Forestry and Indigenous Peoples’ Rights”. The webinar highlighted IRI Indonesia’s commitment to cross-religious collaboration for rainforest conservation and indigenous rights and attracted 48 participants from all over Indonesia.
