IRI-Colombia in the CTPs

One of the main achievements of the first phase of IRI-Colombia’s local and regional advocacy campaign last year was the signing of the agreement ‘A New Opportunity for Hope for the Amazon’, signed by the then candidates for mayors and governors of municipalities and departments where IRI is present.

Among the commitments made by the elected mayors and governors was the inclusion of leaders, members of the local chapters of IRI, in the Territorial Planning Councils (CTP).

As a result of this advocacy exercise, IRI-Colombia is represented in six Territorial Planning Councils, by religious and community leaders belonging to the local chapters:

  • Pastor William Porras, coordinator of IRI-San José del Guaviare, is a member of the departmental CTP for the ecological sector.
  • Religious leader Nudy Maria Oviedo, coordinator of IRI-Cartagena del Chairá, is part of the departmental CTP of Cartagena del Chairá.
  • Pastor Luz Dary Arango Buitrago, a member of IRI-San José del Guaviare, was sworn in as a counselor of the CTP of this municipality, for the ecological sector.
  • Community leader William Romero, a member of IRI-El Retorno, is a member of the CTP of this municipality for the ecological sector.
  • Pastor Samuel Sánchez Sánchez, a member of IRI-Puerto Rico and president of the municipal committee for religious freedom, is a member of the CTP of this municipality, for the religious sector.
