From 23-24 May, IRI Brazil held its eleventh scientific immersion at the National Centre for Monitoring and Alerts of Natural Disasters (CEMADEN) and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), which focused on climate change and the importance of the Amazon rainforest. The immersion brought together 17 Indigenous Evangelical leaders from the states of Rondônia, Amazonas and Maranhão. The immersion facilitated a dialogue between interfaith leaders and scientists on the importance of combatting deforestation, and enabled the participants to share ancestral knowledge and traditional practices on the proper management of natural resources. At the end of the immersion, the participants declared their commitment to continue caring for the environment by advancing concrete actions for the preservation and restoration of forests in their communities.
