IRI Colombia, with the support of Siri Damman, Senior Adviser at Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) and Member of the IRI Colombia Advisory Council, produced the opinion column, Deforestation in the Amazon: Like the Crab, which was published in the national newspaper El Espectador. The column addresses the alarming increase in deforestation levels in the Colombian Amazon during the first half of 2024, and the various practices that continue to threaten the Amazon biome and biodiversity. Moreover, the column calls for the government to take permanent and urgent measures to curb deforestation and prevent the destruction of tropical forests. The full opinion column can be viewed here.
