On World Environment Day, the President of Congress convened an Environmental Plenary to announce the approval of three laws related to the environment: i) law on the imposition of taxes for a healthy environment, which promotes private investment in environmental conservation, ii) law for the declaration of environmental emergency, and iii) law for the protection of wetlands. The approval of the three laws marks an important milestone for IRI Peru, which played an instrumental role in amplifying the voices of religious leaders who continue to advocate for policies that protect rainforests and the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
