IRI Indonesia participated in a training workshop on peatland conservation, organised by the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BRGM), in collaboration with the Indonesian Ulema Council’s (MUI) Environmental and Natural Resources Development Institute (LPLH & SDA MUI). The workshop sought to enhance the capacities of Islamic preachers in protecting peatland ecosystems and implementing MUI Edict No. 30/2016, which focuses on the mitigation of forest and land fires. IRI Indonesia gave a presentation on the importance of religious leaders in promoting environmental awareness, and the integration of Islamic teachings and values into environmental management, particularly in the context of peatlands. The workshop reached a total of 50 participants, including preachers, Islamic scholars, and local faith actors.
