On August 15, 2025, IRI Indonesia and the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (Persekutuan Gereja-Gereja di Indonesia – PGI) held a hybrid Guidebook Launch and Capacity-Building Workshop on Rainforest Protection, gathering 92 Protestant leaders from across the country. The participants represented a broad spectrum of national and regional synods, local congregations, and theological commissions.
The event marked a significant step in embedding ecological awareness within church structures, transforming eco-theology from moral reflection into institutional strategy. The workshop introduced two cornerstone IRI resources – the Guidebook on Faith Teachings for Rainforest Protection and the Guidebook on the Role of Houses of Worship – and explored how they can guide pastors, lay leaders, and communities in integrating ecological ethics into worship, education, and public engagement
“The Church is saved only if all of creation is saved.”
