In parallel, IRI Brazil expanded access to safe water across the Amazon. In August and September, the organisation delivered 3,200 nanotechnology filters to Indigenous families in Amazonas (Tefé, Manaus, São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Parintins, Tabatinga, Atalaia do Norte) and Pará (Itaituba) — reaching 23 territories and approximately 40,000 people.
The project, developed in partnership with Água é Vida, SESAI/Ministry of Health, and supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, includes ongoing technological monitoring to collect data on water quality, health outcomes, and environmental indicators helping inform Brazil new public policies on water security. This outreach and support is an activity of IRI Brazil’s Right to Breathe Clean Air, Access Safe Water, and Climate Security.
