IRI Brazil launches Rede Amazonia Viva, the Living Amazon Network

In Manaus, IRI Brazil brought together faith leaders from all nine Legal Amazon states to launch the Living Amazon Network, an unprecedented interfaith coalition uniting Catholic and Evangelical churches, Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous traditions, Spiritists, and ecumenical organizations.

Leaders signed a Charter of Principles and Commitments, affirming a shared moral duty to defend the Amazon and uphold the rights to clean air, safe water, and climate security.  All are leaders who have participated in IRI Brazil scientific immersion trainings at CEMADEN and INPE.

The network aspires to strengthen collaboration between spiritual authority and scientific knowledge, mobilizing IRI Brazil local chapters for environmental education, public dialogue, advocacy, and defense of the rights of Indigenous Peoples, ribeirinhos (riverside communities), and local smallholders.
