Through the end of 2025, IRI Colombia sustained trainings for its network of local chapters across Amazon municipalities, integrating theology and spirituality, forest–water science (including “flying rivers”) and political advocacy tools. Convenings included Curillo (Sept. 23; 60+ leaders), San Vicente del Caguán (Sept. 26; 60+), Cartagena del Chairá (Sept. 24; 44), Puerto Rico/Bajo Riecito/La Soledad (Sept. 25; 50, including students), Solano (35) and two rounds in Putumayo (Puerto Guzmán on Oct. 22; 49 leaders, and Puerto Asís on Oct. 23, a multi-chapter gathering).
These efforts strengthened practical advocacy skills (including participation in development plans, citizen oversight and communications strategies) and expanded dialogue on bioeconomy and nature-based enterprises, including engagement with GGGI in Putumayo. Menawhile, in Cartagena del Chairá, local chapters consolidated an Environmental Pastoral Action Plan, a roadmap for awareness-raising in worship and formation spaces and for an environmental festival centered on forest and water defense. The plan aligns with the national campaign “Sin Bosques No Hay Futuro” (“Without Forests There Is No Future”) and reflects a long-term interfaith organizing model.
