IRI Peru holds Training of Trainers course and a National Encounter with local chapter representatives

Over the month of December, IRI Peru held four days of Training of Trainer courses for 35 leaders from IRI Peru local chapters. Furthermore, seventeen delegates from IRI local chapters in Peru participated in a national planning and learning meeting. The meeting included two representatives from each IRI local chapter, with the exception of Madre de Dios and Ucayali.  The meeting served as a space for integrating ideas across regions, evaluating work to date and planning new action agendas.  Topics included the upcoming elections in the country and the possible contributions of IRI local chapters to ensuring forest protection and restoration as a priority agenda item in the electoral process, Peru’s Nationally Determined Contributions to the UNFCCC, and a state of forest protection and threats across the country.  Local chapter delegates shared updates on their local situations and focused on the development and replication in priority regions of training of trainer sources on forest protection, priority interventions and regional dialogues on forests with congressional candidates, and the development of long term action plans.
