IRI Brazil has recently expanded its reach by launching local chapters in São Luis (MA), Macapá (AP), Boa Vista (RR), Cuiabá (MT), Porto Velho (RO), and Belém (PA). This marks a significant milestone as IRI Brazil now has chapters in the whole of the Legal Amazon. Leaders from diverse religious backgrounds attended the launch events. Looking ahead, the newly formed chapters are gearing up for action in 2024. Their primary focus is on expanding religious representation within their networks and formulating a detailed action plan on forests in the coming weeks. To facilitate their outreach efforts, all chapters now have a dedicated coordinator and have been equipped with two virtual reality headsets to organize awareness campaigns among religious leaders and communities by screening the ‘Amazônia Viva’ film.
