On Wednesday, September 27th, IRI Peru signed an Inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement with the Ministry of Justice MINJUSDH. The agreement outlines a shared commitment to ensuring the safety of forests defenders and attend to the rights of indigenous leaders and authorities. The document was signed by the Vice Minister of Justice Walter J. Iberos and Laura Vargas, national facilitator of IRI Peru. The agreement formalizes collaboration between IRI Peru and the Ministry of Justice over recent months on efforts to protect the rights and territories of indigenous peoples and forest communities.
