In preparation for the Environmental Plenary held on 5 June, IRI Peru issued a statement on behalf of religious leaders and organizations in the country calling for the repeal of the law that promotes deforestation in the Amazon. The document highlights “the opportunity for the Congress to favor dialogue and promote peaceful solutions to complex problems such as the use of forest land in the Amazon.” The statement can be viewed here.
